Competition Format

  • The Duchess of York Trophy is played as a 3/4 Handicap AM-AM Stableford Competition.
  • A team consists of four amateur players - Ladies and Gentlemen in any combination.
  • There is a 'Shotgun Start' where all Players start the competition together.
  • Scoring: Best 3 out of 4 scores on each hole.
  • The gentlemen play off the White Tees - The Ladies off the Red Tees.
  • The gentlemen use the Mens stroke Indexes and the Ladies use their own stroke indexes for scoring.
  • Handicaps: Maximum playing handicaps – Men 24 Ladies 36
  • All scoring players MUST PUTT OUT - i.e. there are to be no 'gimmees' for scoring.
  • Players who cannot score - or better the best scores on the hole - must 'Pick Up' their ball to speed up Play.
  • On Par five holes - there may be more than one team starting at the same time - to maximise the number of teams.
  • In this case the FIRST team on the hole is expected to TEE OFF BEFORE the shotgun start - and go to their balls and WAIT.
  • when the hooter sounds The FIRST TEAM will play their SECOND SHOTS - and when it is safe to do so - the SECOND TEAM WILL TEE OFF.
  • Prize winners may be asked to produce a VALID handicap certificate for each member of the team - at the organisers discretion.
